Naming Ceremony - Guest Report
Gloria in exelsis Fandom! I bring you good tidings of great joy!
Yesterday was born in the city of Baton Rouge a new science fiction fan club, which is called the Lampwick Continuüm. Matt Tessier, charter and current member of Area 504, is the leader of the new group, the membership of which remains closed for the time being while they decide on a structure for their organization.
“The Lampwick Continuüm”
Our official naming ceremony was held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 3pm.
The newest member of the Gulf South fandom community is The Lampwick Continuüm.
“Our light isn’t any brighter than anyone else’s, but we’ve got a neat place to keep it.”
Members Michael Scott and Karen Lineske ignited the Ceremonial Lamp, just as they lent of their light 22 years earlier to create Star One Delta. A representative of Area 504, Raymond Boudreau, was present and presented us with a token from Rebecca Smith, the Captain of that fine organization. We will attempt to incorporate the token presented as part of the Ceremonial Lamp.

The Idiot’s Lantern

We brainstormed several quick “commercials” for the group, to make once we have nailed down a final name. We discussed the lamp that Matt has and generally like it but are considering painting it metallic. We discussed some new name options, and are going to do a second round of polls combining them with the leaders from the first poll.
Meeting Report 11/30/08
The meeting was called to order by the lighting of the lamp. It is my hope that the lamp becomes the symbol for our new club. Maybe it is a bit silly, and we will certainly question it (as I expect to question nearly everything) as we build the new club, but I kinda like it.

Hear ye, hear ye!
On today, November 30th, 2008, the augural meeting of Operation Lampwick was called to order, as were numerous pizzas. This action makes us official, and represents the first and last formalities of this project. All future events will be strictly informalities, on pain of the transgressor being labeled a dork.
